and her husband lived in Zimbabwe from 2003 to 2006 where he worked for a NGO. Various assignments led her to countries in Africa and Asia, where she worked in aid projects before she devoted herself to writing.

A few short stories for children were published in various publications. She wrote the novel The River That Saved Me (2006) and numerous short stories for various magazines.

Kara Benson lives with her family in Australia.
