Töne durch die Wand

»My guitar. I embraced her in my arms, felt the wood, smooth and unused, felt how big she was. As big as I would grow. With her.«

Anne, a child of the 1960's and 1970's post war generation, lives in a philistine family: the older sister, the younger brother, the anguished mother who endures life with a slavish acceptance, and the choleric father, who maintains his grip on the whole family. When Anne receives a guitar for her first Communion, it is the music that becomes her refuge and final glimmer of hope. The music helps her to dare to make small steps, which involves conflicts, but offers her a mode to flee violence and emotional coldness. As a young woman she then encounters Jan, and within a short time they decide to get married. Anne's wish, to find security and comfort within a new family, seems to come true – but when she loses her child, events swiftly follow one after another.
